Piloting Observation of Revised Teacher Education Programmes Completed in Armenian Universities

The online observation of piloted revised teacher education programmes has been officially completed in all three Armenian partner universities: Armenian State Pedagogical University, Yerevan State University, and Shirak State University.

The observation sessions were conducted with the participation of European experts from the University of Valladolid, Spain, the University of Beira Interior, Portugal, and Masaryk University, Czech Republic.

During the sessions, university professors and students presented the results of the piloting process, highlighting how green and digital transition priorities have been integrated into teacher education curricula.

At Armenian State Pedagogical University, the revised programmes in English Language and Literature, Informatics, and Speech Therapy were presented. Students showcased sustainability-oriented projects developed and implemented within the piloted courses, including initiatives on environmental awareness, paperless classrooms, reduction of plastic use, ecological school activities, sustainable digital resources, and responsible use of technologies.

Special attention was given to the course “Digital Transformation and Sustainable Educational Technology Solutions”, piloted at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics. The presentation focused on the course structure, methodological approach, digital tools used, and expected learning outcomes. Students explored the environmental impact of ICT, digital hygiene, GreenComp principles, sustainable web technologies, and the development of resource-efficient digital educational solutions.

Students also presented their “green educational packages” and practical projects related to water and electricity consumption monitoring in schools, technological waste sorting, development of lightweight and accessible Open Educational Resources, and assessment of the ecological footprint of websites. The piloting helped students rethink the relationship between digital technologies and environmental sustainability, emphasizing the need to maintain a balance between technological development and green education principles.

At the Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education, the course “Assistive Technologies” was presented. Students demonstrated how green and digital components can be integrated into special and inclusive education to support a more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable learning environment.

Yerevan State University presented the revision and piloting of a short-credit programme, with a special focus on the intensive training of professors before and during the piloting process. The presentation highlighted the importance of continuous academic support and capacity building for the effective implementation of revised curricula.

Shirak State University presented the revised programmes in the fields of Geography, Special Education, and English Language and Literature. The university representatives shared the piloting outcomes and reflected on the integration of green and digital competences into the revised programmes.

The completion of the piloting observation phase in Armenian partner universities marks an important milestone for the T4GREEN project. It demonstrates the commitment of Armenian higher education institutions to modernizing teacher education and preparing future teachers to respond to the challenges of green and digital transition.
