ASPU HOSTS OPEN DISCUSSION WITH TEACHER COMMUNITY IN ARMENIA ON THE DRAFT <<NATIONAL CONCEPT FOR TEACHER EDUCATION 2027-2035>>

A public discussion on the draft “National Concept for Teacher Education 2027–2035” was held at the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) with the participation of representatives from the teaching community.

The meeting aimed to present the concept developed by the working group within the framework of the Erasmus+ T4GREEN project and to further refine it through feedback, professional insights, and suggestions from educators and experts.

Project coordinator Raisa Avetyan presented the main goals and outcomes of the T4GREEN project, highlighting the steps being taken to modernize teacher education and promote sustainable development in the field.

Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at ASPU, Tigran Mikayelyan, spoke about the key motivations and principles behind the development of the new concept. He emphasized the active involvement of the teaching community, noting that educators are not merely stakeholders but key clients of the process.

The discussion was also attended by Tamara Sargsyan, Head of the General Education Department at the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, and Lilit Mkrtchyan, Deputy Director of the National Center for Education Development and Innovation.

They presented the “National Concept for Teacher Education 2027–2035” in detail, highlighting its strategic directions and its alignment with broader educational reforms in Armenia.

Both speakers emphasized that such discussions play a crucial role in ensuring the participation of the professional community in the policy development process and in shaping the future of teacher education.

The event continued in a group work format, moderated by Lilit Mkrtchyan and Tigran Mikayelyan. Participants shared their observations, recommendations, and ideas aimed at clarifying and improving the Concept’s structure and effectiveness.

At the end of the session, an interactive Q&A provided an opportunity for attendees to express their views and raise questions related to the future of teacher education in Armenia.
